DYK, Allu Arjun was scared when he heard about Pushpa 2’s Jathara sequence; actor admits, “First there was fear, then…”

Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2 has shattered several records. The Icon star has wreaked havoc with his performance which continues to remain talk of the town even today. However, one of the most talked scenes of the movie Jathara sequence had set the internet on fire. The actor donned a lady get-up exuding alpha-ness and delivered power-packed performance. Now, in an interview, Allu Arjun states how he was initially scared when Jathara sequence of Pushpa 2 was narrated to him.

While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter India, Allu Arjun said, “Well, one thing about the Jathara sequence is that, in short, when he initially told me, I was scared. Yeah, that was the first reaction. We had finished a very macho photoshoot, and he said, “It’s not working.” Then he said, “I want you to wear a sari, dress like a lady.” We started doing sketches. And then we could see it. And I started buying into the idea, because there’s always a fear in the beginning. First, there was fear, and then there was exploration.” He further added that after a point, they knew that this would be the USP of the film, and that it would be a challenge for him as an actor.

“If I do this, I will walk away with a huge, how do I say, with a great name. Only one thing that Sukumar garu (sir) and I thought was that even if he’s dressed in a sari, he has to look very, very macho, the alpha-ness should not be lost,” he said. When asked how he kept the ‘alpha-ness’ while dressed in a saree, he said, “Alpha-ness is in the mind. You can’t take the alpha-ness away. That’s an inherent trait.”

Talking about Pushpa 2, the film directed by Sukumar also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil. The movie went on to become a rage for its massy dialogues to foot-tapping music cementing its position as second highest grossing films of Indian Cinema. However, amid all this, the icon star landed in legal trouble after during one of the screenings a stampede incident occurred and a lady passed away while her son was critical.

Allu Arjun is next set to collaborate with Trivikram and Atlee. In his film with the Jawan director, Janhvi Kapoor has been roped in for lead role.
